With the summer term well underway, we took the opportunity to make the most of the good weather with our very own photoshoot to showcase the brilliant successes that take place daily and document the everyday moments that make The Acorns School such a wonderful place for our pupils to learn and achieve.

At the start of the month, we were delighted to welcome the team from CPMM Media Group, which specialises in strategic PR, marketing and design for schools, to support with the photoshoot, and the team’s expertise and vision captured the spirit of The Acorns School perfectly.

We started off the day by visiting science, where Mrs Thomson had set up an experiment with Bunsen burners to support Year 11 pupils with their practical skills revision ahead of their GCSE exams. And, of course, a trip to science would not be complete without feeding the fish!

Next, we headed to the school library which is filled with a range of fiction and non-fiction texts, and includes something for everyone, with books carefully selected by our teachers to inspire readers across all year groups and reading abilities. The library is where pupils’ artwork is also displayed and provides the perfect environment for quiet, focused work to take place.

Having worked up an appetite after walking around the school, home cooking was next on the photoshoot list, where Miss Holcroft was supporting pupils in Ash, who had recently completed their assessments, to make the fluffiest American-style pancakes. Filling the room with delicious smells, pupils practised their measuring and mixing skills, showcasing their culinary creations.

With Rowan group taking part in their weekly sports sessions with the LFC Foundation, we ventured outside to the MUGA (multi-use games area) to capture them in action as they honed their penalty-taking skills, before heading back inside to document pupils from Willow group working hard in history with Mr Koole.

During the photoshoot, we also wanted to shine a light on the special moments that take place when pupils are catching up with each other at breaktimes and forming life-long friendships. Making use of our beautiful grounds, pupils regularly relax across the range of outdoor seating areas we offer, including the arbour that we installed two years ago in memory of Dylan Bragger.

We are looking forward to showcasing all the photographs on our new website which we are currently busy working on behind the scenes… keep your eyes peeled!
